Australian steel maker sees strong export growth

With a significant increase of 56 percent in sales compared with last year, Bisalloy also achieved a major milestone with sales of defence grade steel at a level not seen in over 10 years.

Bisalloy has employed 17 more people in 2018 at the company’s Unanderra manufacturing plant in NSW. Earlier this year, Bisalloy signed a contract with Naval Group Australia to produce specialised steel as part of a trial for Australia’s Future Submarines.

Minister for Defence Christopher Pyne said it’s great news for Bisalloy and showed how the Australian government’s commitment to using Australian steel in new military projects is delivering results.

“Bisalloy is also providing innovative products to a number of Defence projects, such as the Army’s Hawkei vehicle and the $5.2 billion BOXER Combat Reconnaissance Vehicle (CRV). Bisalloy is also leveraging its success to seek out export opportunities and has already secured several large volume, international orders for its innovative armour plate,” he said.

Bisalloy Steels is Australia’s only manufacturer of high-tensile and abrasion-resistant quenched and tempered steel plate used for armour, structural and wear-resistant steel applications; products that are marketed under the brand name BISALLOY and exported to a host of countries throughout Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and South America.

As a specialist performance steel manufacturer and supplier, Bisalloy Steels is highly responsive to customer demands and market changes anywhere in the world, and is also strongly committed to, and clearly focused on, the crucial task of continuous product development and improvement.

Bisalloy Steels is also increasingly supplying BISALLOY Armour steel to police, military forces, government and civilian applications worldwide for use in security vehicles, training facilities, security booths, splinter boxes, embassy ‘safe rooms’ and myriad other applications.

Supplying manufacturers and end-users in a vast array of industries, including mining, construction, general fabrication, pressure vessel and defence, Bisalloy Steels distributes its products via a network of distributors across Australia, directly to end users, through its businesses in Indonesia, Thailand and the People’s Republic of China, and through agents in at least a dozen countries worldwide.

In line with Bisalloy’s growth, investments are being made in Bisalloy’s research, development, laboratory and export capabilities.
